How can I import a .csv playlist into iTunes?

I downloaded a .csv playlist from a (dutch) music site (their album top 250) earlier today, and I want to import this playlist in to iTunes rather than manually adding 250 albums to a playlist. However, I can't import this .csv playlist. I've tried to convert the playlist to a .xml format, but that didn't work out as planned.

Could someone give me an insight on this matter? I haven't been able to find anything on this particular topic yet.

iTunes-OTHER, Windows 7, iTunes version: 11.0.2.26

Levivt,

That is just a list of artist-album combinations along with a year and some numbers (that I assume are votes or rankings).

iTunes will not be able to do anything at all with such a list.

If you want to see the correct iTunes format, find an existing playlist in your iTunes, and Export it as XML. You will see the fields and format that iTunes can process.

You will also notice that the XML has the exact file location of each song. Upon import, iTunes uses this to add the song to the playlist.

I also have a need to import a .csv file in such a manner as to turn it into a successful iTunes playlist. Here is my situation: I have an older program that runs under Windows XP, for which the program author is no longer providing updates into current programs or formats, so I have to run this on my Mac using Parallels. I have over 1600 video clips I've filmed that are referenced in the spreadsheet. One column contains the folder location for the clip, another column contains the file name within that folder, and 4 addtional columns contain categorical and descriptive information about the clip useful to me. Of those latter 4 columns, one of them has essentially unlimited length available, allowing me to include an extensive narrative description about that clip. The current program has wonderful built-in controls for slow-motion with preserved sound intelligibility, speeded up motion, jumps ahead or backwards, etc. My goal is to move this entire spreadsheet over to iTunes, and to set up iTunes such that when a clip is to be played, it opens directly in my QuickTime 7 Player. Is this possible to do? If so, could someone either provide me step by step instructions, or alternatively guide me to someone who would do this for me for a reasonable fee?

Finally, if there might be some other program running on the Mac that might be more appropriate to meet this challenge than iTunes, I'm open to that as well.

Many thanks,

Jon
