iPod Shuffle 2nd generation Random Screen cracking?

Hello there

So, I bought a 2nd generation iPod Nano off of Ebay to use in a project.

The seller noted that the battery was dead, which it most deffinately is. But, no big deal, my project will be powering it all the time anyway.

Now, something I didn't take into account is the battery might expand if plugged in for an extended period.

So, I had it plugged into my computer, it was working perfectly fine, and suddenly the screen was full of vertical lines, as if it's cracked.

It suffered no trauma, just sitting there on my desk, plugged into my computer.

Is this a thing? Does this happen to old iPods? Will Apple fix it or should I grab a new screen on ebay and fix it myself?

Yea, so there's really nothing to loose.

So I think what happened is the battery was that far gone and charging it (having it plugged in and loading music) made the battery expand, and that's what damaged the screen. Just a guess.

Anyway, a few bucks and some prying around to fix your iPod, not too bad either way.

Like I said before, it'll be in a dock most of the time. When it's not, it'll be plugged int a computer for loading music. But, I suppose people would want to play with it and get a playlist loaded and such before plugging it into the dock.
