How to sync Gmail contacts with iPhone

I just switched to iPhone from an Android phone. How do I sync my Gmail contacts? My iPhone is pulling my Gmail, but I can't figure out how to sync Gmail contacts into my phone contacts.

Open google contacts on your Pc/laptop. If you have the latest version of contacts then it won't export your contacts just click on "Switch to the old version". Then go to the export and choose to create Vcard. Save it where you can find easily such as the desktop. If you save it properly you will get a Vcard file named Contacts. Now all you need to do is logging in to your i-cloud and voila! Import contacts from Vcard. It will only take 1-5 sec depending on your internet speed. and in real time you will get all your contacts imported into the I Cloud/iPhone from the google. P.s Please be careful if you still have the old android and it isn't in sync then the contacts which are not synchronized will not be imported into your phone. so I will recommend synchronizing all your contacts. Using PC/ Laptop open any web browser, then search "google contacts" and just log in to your current Gmail in which you have your contacts that you want to transfer. If you have the latest version of contacts then it won't export your contacts just click on "Switch to the old version" (If it is suggested in a pop-up). Then go to the "export" and choose to "create Vcard". Save it where you can find easily such as the desktop. If you save it properly you will get a "Vcard file named Contacts". Now all you need to do is logging in to your i-cloud and voila! Import contacts from Vcard. It will only take 1-5 sec depending on your internet speed. and in real time you will get all your contacts imported into the i-cloud/iPhone from the google. You don't even have to restart your i-phone just make sure you have wifi/Internet data enabled on your i-phone. P.s Please be careful if you still have the old android and it isn't in sync then the contacts which are not synchronized with your Gmail account will not be imported into your new i-phone. so I will recommend synchronizing all your contacts. Please find the screenshots attached to guide you. Kind regards from apple community. User uploaded file User uploaded file

A MUST DO!!!

I know this may go without saying for some of you, but for me it did not, so I am going to put it out there. None of the below advice was working to sync between phones until I signed into google on my COMPUTER and went to contacts. Only at that point did google recognize my contacts and transfer them from my android to my iphone.

Hello carrie867,

The following article contains step-by-step instructions for settings up Google Contact Sync on your iOS device:

iOS: Syncing with Google Contacts

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4872

Follow these steps to set up contact syncing with Google Contacts:

  1. Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Other > Add CardDav Account.
  2. Enter the following information in the fields:
    • Server: google.com
    • User Name: Enter your full Google email address
    • Password: Your Google account password
  3. Select Next at the top of the screen to complete the setup.

After you have completed the setup, open the Contacts app on your device. Syncing should begin automatically.

Additional Information

Note: Make sure that SSL is enabled (under Advanced settings), and that the port is 443.

Best regards,

Allen

I have the same question and followed the procedure outlined. However, there was no automatic syncing when I opened my Contacts app. If I added a new contact via my iPhone or iPad, it did automatically go into my Google Contacts, and vice versa. But I can't seem to move all of my iPhone/iPad Contacts into the Google Contacts on the PC.

Also, does it matter that I have the contacts on both my iPhone and my iPad?
