    Does the Nikon use a SD card? if so, have you tried to simply pull the photos from the card?

     

    If not, is your camera on when you try to transfer the files?

     

    There may also be some settings on the camera to tweak.

    my macbook air was failing to recognize my Nikon Coolpix s9500. The problem was not with the computer, but with the settings on the camera. Try going to the menu, find where it says charge by computer, and switch it from auto (the default) to off. Otherwise, mine would not connect unless the battery was absolutely fully charged.
