cd/dvd gone after downloaded new version of itunes

i updated to new version of itunes and now my pc doesnt recgonize my cd/dvd drive keep having to restore to previous update to get it back. apple support says i dont know because its a pc?

what to do. not about to drop more money and by a mac for itunes use.

Android device is sounding better by the minute
