Q: when i insert a software disc into my mac it will not run, how do i get it to run? thanks

The software disc should appear on the Desktop (or in the sidebar of a Finder window).
Double-click the disc icon (or select it in the sidebar).
On the disc, there should is often an Installer, or the application itself.

May 12, 2013 2:05 AMby Kenichi Watanabe,Whether it appears in the sidebar and/or the Desktop depends on Finder preference settings. You can check by going to the menu bar in Finder, under the Finder menu, and selecting Preferences. On the General tab, you can select what appears on the Desktop. On the Sidebar tab, you can select what appears on in the sidebar of Finder windows.
But that's not important for your actual problem, since you see it on the Desktop. Double-click the disc icon, to open a Finder window showing the disc's content. What do you see?
