You've turned it 'on' on your computer's iTunes and on your iPad (Settings > Music), and they are both connected to the same wifi network ? You should get a Shared option under More button at the bottom of the Music app on your iPad, and a Shared tab at the top of the Videos app, showing your computer's iTunes content. If you don't get the Shared options then try closing and re-opening iTunes on your computer and if it then shows in the two apps.

You can't use home sharing to move/copy your computer's iTunes library to your iPad, you can only stream content with it. If you want your library on the iPad then you will need to sync it

Hi King_Penguin

I'm having the same issue.

Have a Windows PC (Win7) with iTunes 11.2.2.1

2 iPad (one 2 and one 3)

1 iphone 5

Having set up the home sharing on the PC and ensuring the AppleiD are correct on all the devices - I restart my iTunes.

Go to Settings and ensure that the Share with specific libary is checked marked.

Reset (Home button+on/off button until apple logo appear) on all my devices.

Go into Video app on my device and there is no content.

I'm I doing something wrong?

My homenetwork is cable to the route and wireless to the devices.

please get back to me.

Thanks

Thorbjorn

On your computer's iTunes you've turned on home sharing via File > Home Sharing, and in the Sharing tab in Edit > Preferences you have the 'share library' tickbox ticked (I use a Mac, but I assume that it's similar for PCs) :

User uploaded file

On my iPad I'm logged into the same account via Settings > Videos > Home Sharing, both my computer and iPad are connected to the same network (and iTunes on my computer is open), and at the top of the Videos app I get an extra tab :

User uploaded file

You are not seeing the Shared tab in Videos ?

Hi King_Penguin.

Thanks for the screenshots.

Yes they look almost the same (I only have PC for now)

I've done all the above.

Still no Shared content in video on my iPhone 5, iPad 4 and iPad Mini.

All are aproved through iTunes

All are on the same WiFi network (except my PC with iTunes - it runs on cable).

I'm using Avast Pemier Anti-Virus and have allowed the Firewall to accept everything with Apple.

I've disabled my windows firewall for home and public firewall

Still the same - no video sharing.

Any other advice (other than getting a mac, that is :-)

Thanks

Does it work for music - if you go into the Music app do you get a Shared option (possibly via the More button if it shows) ? Though the computer is connected by cable, it's the same network that the iPads and iPhone are connected to ? My windows desktop is too far away from the router to be able to check if being connected by cable works (I use a USB wifi adapter on it to connect to my network).

If somebody else uses a wired connected then hopefully they'll reply.

Hi Peter.

It worked. Uninstalled every Apple component on the PC and reinstalled it.

Step 1.

Turned Home Sharing on (Apple ID and password must be the same as the user login)

Step 2.

Closed iTunes on the PC and starteted it.

Step 3

Turned on my iPad

Settings - Video - typed in the same Apple iD and password as on my PC.

Step 4

Whent into video app on my app and pressed the Shared word in the middel top of the window. Choose my computer name that was listed, and after 3 min the list was updated and I could share it.

So thanks Peter and King for your fantastic support on this.

Thanks

Thorbjorn
