Trying to updade iTunes version 9.2.0.61 on an XP PC

I am presently running iTunes 9.2.0.61and every time I try to updade to a more recent version of iTunes I get this error message : «The iTunes update server could not be contacted. Please check your Internet connection or try again later».

I have enabled the «Automatically detect settings» under the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings under the Conections Tab of the Internet Properties. I have also copied and then renamed the «hosts» files according to iTunes for windows Support article : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1814

Any other advice would be most appreciated.
