iPod Touch 3G black screen not connecting

I have a ipod touch 3G and it was at about 50% battery and when i tried to take it off "sleep" it didn't resond and the screen stayed black. This has happened frequently before so i tried pressing the home & off button to restore it & it didn't do anything. I've tried connecting it to iTunes & it won't come up, i know the USB cord works aswell but it just is not responding, i attempted to put it into DFU mode but it still wouldn't do anything...is my iTouch done for? Please Help!

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try on another computer

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
