How to set a pathname without reference to the username.

I work on four different Mac computers all linked by dropbox. All the usernames are different.

I also work a lot with projects in TexShop, and this requires me to set a TEX root which is the absolute path to the folder with the project files. This means that I have to change the path everytime I move to a new computer which I may do 3-4 times per day. Is there a way to set a path without reference to the user name?
