Powerbook is on, but no log in screen

Hey, I'm having a bit of trouble with a Powerbook G4 15" Superdrive.

We got it a few days ago second hand. It was working fine, but it will only work with ac power. Yesterday, the cord was accidentally pulled, and because the battery doesn't fuction it was switched off.

Now, we can get to the white screen with the apple logo and spinning disk, but no further.

Any advice? (not sure what to try as I've never had a mac portable before 🙂 )

Hello,

A first thing to try in similar cases is often to reset the PRAM.

Regarding battery charging, it may be worth testing a Power Management Unit (PMU) reset. On the other hand, the battery may simply be bad. A bad battery can under certain circumstances put a heavy load on the power supply circuits, and thus affect the way a computer works.
