My ipod won't show in itunes but it will charge!

I have an ipod touch 3rd generation that has been lost for months and I have recently just found it. I tried connecting it to the computer because it was out of charge and it immediatley started charging. I left it until the apple logo came up and I waited for it to come to the slide to unlock screen but it didn't. Instead the little itunes logo came up and a usb connecting to it that showed me I needed to connect it to itunes. (I have the latest version of itunes) I opened up my itunes and the ipod didn't show. I searched my whole computer and I cant find it anywhere. I have tried holding the power and home button so the apple logo comes up but it just takes me back to connect to itunes. I cant do anything in settings on my ipod or whatnot because I cant even access my ipod, so don't mention anything that requires going onto the ipod itself. I really need help with this, and I don't want to pay for a reset from apple.

Cheers, NPJCA

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- Try on another computer

and

iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

I tried putting it into DFU mode and all that did was turn it off. I did it correctly and I realized my ipod cant even wake up now from its shut-down. After 3 hours of searching I eventually got it to wake up but it went back to the 'plug into itunes' picture. Its annoying. After that I tried all of the above on my brother's macbook pro and my dad's macbook air and it still didnt recognise it. I have also tried device not recognised in Mac OS X and it doesn't work. I guess I'll need an appointment at apple. Thanks anyway, NPJCA.

Looks like your iPods been disabled and needs to be connected to iTunes. But now your computers/iTunes won't recognize it, so try another computer.
