Dear Moderators,
I read a lot of articles about Arabic font but this is really serious for me as i work in TV and we want to use a very specific
font and not the one who are already there in finalcut 7, we added the font but the letters are not connected, so any help
would be appreciated to do that, and thanks a lot.

that didn't help since it talkes about someguy who wanted to translate subtitles and export them from one
standard into XML and he was having problem to show the arabic in FCP and he used the Geeza font
where i don't want to use any other font supported from Mac but to import one from outside without any problem
as i stated about the font is disconnected and the file is .otf file...
what do you mean by "the font is disconnected?" Did you install the font? Open fontbook, (which is in your applications folder) and file: add fonts. Did it do this successfully? Once the font's installed you can also "validate the font" in Fontbook, to make sure it's installed correctly.

In such a case you must use an AAT (not opentype) font. Besides the ones that come with OS X, you can find them at SIL and at the Mellel site.

Some apps like TextEdit should be able to use your Windows font, but you might then have to convert it to images for your purposes (I don't know what your workflow is or what you are trying to produce).
the Arabic font is disconnected, in arabic the characters must be connected to form a word, and yes

well the case is that i don't want to use any other font other than the one I have, so you are saying that i can't install it properly on final cut unless i use it on other text editor and then make image of it and then move that image over the video i am creating ? so there is no solution for my problem other than that ?
i was reading just now about converting from Opentype to AAT type and i read article in 2006 about it saying
that Apple is lacking for that, is there any solution for that nowadays ? any converter from opentype to AAT that completely supports Arabic in writing ?

I don't know of one. But the fellow Behnam who created the XW Zar fonts on the Mellel site is kind of an expert at doing this, and he might be able to help.
Regarding images, I understand it is not uncommon to use a separate titling app like Belle Nuit to create title images which are then imported into FCS, etc. Whether Belle Nuit supports Windows Arabic fonts I don't know.

The expert I mentioned is Behnam Rassi. If you do a google search, you should be able to find an email or other contact point.
The app FontForge is capable of some kinds of conversion from OpenType to AAT.

Rassi might know whether it does enough to make Arabic possible.
PS I have verified that Belle Nuit does not support Windows Arabic fonts.
