May 13, 2013 12:24 PM in response to thildeshby rccharles,I'd take a look at this document "Apple_iOS_5_Guide.pdf" on page:
http://www.nsa.gov/ia/mitigation_guidance/security_configuration_guides/operatin g_systems.shtml
scroll down to ios.
Look at divide.

May 13, 2013 12:24 PM in response to thildeshby varjak paw,Virus protection is not needed for any non-jailbroken iPad, and no antivirus app could effectively function for the same reasons that viruses are a very unlikely occurrence.

May 13, 2013 12:50 PM in response to varjak pawby rccharles,All apps are sandboxed. An app may only access it's data. An app cannot access the data of an other app or the system. For this reason, a virus checking app would be worthless. To allow a virus cheching app to access other apps data would be a big security hole.
You can think of an app as a user on other computers. You would not want users accessing other users data.

May 13, 2013 1:49 PM in response to thildeshby Texas Mac Man,You should ask questions about the iPhone in the iPhone forum, not the iPad forum.
For non-jailbroken iPads, iPhones, etc, all apps can only be downloaded from Apple's iTunes store. Apple checks for imbeded viruses or malware before allownig the apps to be downloaded.
