Q: When I try to add my apple computer to my wireless printer the diagnostic shows a different IP address for the apple.  How can I get it to accept the IP address for the system?

When I try to add my computer to my wireless printer the diagnostic printout shows a different IP address for the apple than the wireless setup has.  How do I correct this?

Is this for the HP OfficeJet 6500 Plus named in your profile? From a quick glance at the OJ6500 manual, it is not clear what you mean by "add my computer to my wireless printer" or "the diagnostic printout shows a different IP address for the apple". The only thing the manual says about adding a client computer is adding the MAC address for security.

Normally, I would expect you would add the printer to the computer rather than the other way around.
