Two different seagate external hard drive , after few uses only , got message : impossible to repair hdisk ??

Cant say exactly was kind : Mac OS X cannot repair your external hard drive. you cannot modity content. reformat as soon you can. Kind of !. i want save my pictures files on external disk it get boring !!!
