I have been backing-up automatically to a gMail account for about two years. I want to cancel this but I am not able to. There is nothing listed in preferences under forwarding or rules.
What do I do?

I haven't got a gmail account to check, but isn't this something you might need to change by logging in to the preferences of your Google account via a web browser.
Sorry I wasn't very precise. The emails being sent to my Mac Mail account are automatically copied/forwarded to my gMail account as a back-up.
It is this forwarding process from Mac Mail I want to cancel but I don't seem to be able to do this?
Is the account a me.com or icloud.com account? If it is, if you login in to your icloud Mail account at icloud.com and go to Settings>General is there anything in the field highlighted in the graphic below?
Having never used this option myself, I'm not sure whether you would continue to receive in the icloud account as well as gmail. Probably worth a look if it applies.

The settings pane is in the bottom left of the browser, its hard to see because its faint. From there you can solve the problem as per the screen shot of Paul_31.
