Hi, I'm relatively new to Mac.
There's a couple of things I I miss in the contextual menus;
I'd like to add a service that when I richt-click a file I have the option to send (or share) it using email (gmail).
Can I do this using Automator? Which modules would I need?

There are some similar AppleScripts posted around the 'net. Here is one, and another, and here's one that sends attachments.

this only exists in Safari; in Finder there is no such menu. The contextual "share" menu in Finder only includes Message and AirDrop, no emailing...

Oh sorry. Well I don't have that for some reason... it only shows AirDrop and Message. Any idea where the Mail option went and how to get it back?
Do you have Apple mail setup on the system? Even if you don;t use it it needs to be setup for this option to show.

While convenient, this option may run into some problems in its current implementation if you use alternative e-mail setups, or if you have tried alternatives and then reverted back to OS X Mail. To make sure your default Mail program is set correctly, open Mail (even if you do not use it), and then go to its Preferences settings. In the General section of the preferences, choose your preferred e-mail program as the default e-mail reader. Even if your preferred program is set, toggle between various options in this menu to have the system change and revert the settings and thereby rewrite the configuration files for this setting.
