Does your tablet meet these Windows system requirements?

  • PC with a 1GHz Intel or AMD processor and 512MB of RAM

  • Windows XP Service Pack 2 or later, 32-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8

  • 64-bit editions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8 require the iTunes 64-bit installer

  • 400MB of available disk space

  • Broadband Internet connection to use the iTunes Store

If not, then it can't run iTunes. Surface tablets running Windows RT on ARM processors cannot run iTunes.

I’m debating on getting a new iPad to upgrade from my old one or get a Microsoft surface tablet that will be cheaper. Problem is I need to know if it the tablet can run iTunes as if I were on my laptop. I mainly need it to be able to play my purchased movies and music from iTunes. I hear the surface tablet has issues installing or downloading to the surface any help would do.

I am certainly no computer expert and purchased the Microsoft Surface Tablet when it first became available in Australia. Whilst it is great for the MS packages for my work, and the attachable keyboard is handy, the fact that itunes is not compatible means I can't have my music or movies etc when I travel - which is what I wanted it for.

You also have to re-purchase apps and games through microsoft which I found cumbersome. I believe the newer version - Surface Pro 2 - however is itunes compatible.

In retrospect I would have been better of getting a mini lap top running windows such as the Dell Inspiron Mini, the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC, the Acer Aspire orthe Asus Eee PC 1000
