It's not currently possible to permanently delete any items from your purchase history.

In terms of hiding, then if your phone is on iOS 6 then you won't be able to hide items directly on it - from the page that you posted from :

You currently cannot hide purchases on devices using iOS 6.

You should still be able to hide apps via your computer's iTunes, which should prevent them showing in the Purchased tab on your phone.

Am I reading this right? I have to install one stupid and bloated app that I don't need nor want, only to be able to do something I could do with a finger swipe on iOS 5 ???

This is so lame. I have been putting up with some of Apple's restrictions but more and more they are becoming too "bossy" and p*ssing on their users... I haven't used that feature in a while, sure, because I get the app downloaded on both devices and if I don't want it on one, I remove it, usually never needing to download it on that device, but today, because I was having some problems with an app, I decided to remove the app and redownload it, hoping it would fix some of those issues. Thing is: it's not *one* but two apps with the same name, one free that I downloaded to try and the paid version that I bought a couple days after. Only, I can't hide the free, which I don't need anymore because I have the paid version, and I don't know which one I want to download because I simply can't hide the one not installed on one of my devices...

Dear apple, should you be reading (which I doubt), you're going the wrong way... I for one have been more eager to defend you guys against the competition but time and time again you insist on proving me wrong. From simple thing to the next simple thing, Android is starting to be a much more viable alternative, and I'm not talking about price or specs/price, I'm writing about useability...

You can leave feedback for Apple via the feedback page.

I found it in the meanwhile (http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html), but ty anyway.

Not that I believe it will matter but at least they won't be able to say they didn't know it. Add in other nuisances like the windows iCloud not working for so long and they're really getting on my nerves: my next phone and/or tablet may as well come from some other maker...

    Ty again.

The same happened to me. I usually hide my purchases in the ios6, but all my purchased items (apps) are shown in my devices with the ios7. How can I hide purchases in ios7.

After hiding them on your computer's iTunes try logging out of your account on your device by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back - that is/was working for apps when I last hid one last week.
