wi-fi setting grayed out, displaying no wi-fi

Hi All,

When I go to Settings on my iPhone 4S (OS version 5.1.1), it is showing as if I had to Wi-Fi connection, and I can't fix it as it appears grayed out. How can I fix my Wi-Fi connection? Does anybody know what should I do to fix this?

Thanks!

Ok. I assumed (bad habit) that you had already tried the reset network settings. Obviously, based on your screenshot, Airplane mode is off. You should also cycle airplane mode (turn it on, then back off). THEN update your device (which also will perform the required restore to factory settings), to eliminate a software problem. At that point, you can either go into the genius bar or contact AppleCare for warranty service (assuming [again]) that you are still under warranty.
