Apple Maps open - stop phone from locking/dimming

Google Maps has a setting that stops the phone from dimming/auto-locking while the app is open and navigating. Pretty obvious option.

I can't find a similar setting in Apple Maps. Is there a way to keep Apple Maps open while navigating?

Please don't tell me to keep auto-lock on "never". I don't have to do this with Google Maps. I've been wanting to switch back to Apple Maps since Google Maps doesn't access my contacts. But it seems pretty pointless to have a maps app where the screen shuts off on you in the middle of your trip. That's nothing more than an accident waiting to happen.
