memory upgrade for iMac 27"
I have 2013 iMac 27" which came with 8GB (marked as 2R = dual rank). I want to add 8 more GB (2slots open). My question is: do I have to get dual rank or single rank memory?
Thank you
iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Use memory with the same specs as that in the machine...Macs are very picky about their memory.
Great sources of Mac ram are OWC, http://www.macsales.com and Crucial, http://www.crucial.com they guarantee their memory to be compatible and to work.
Here are the specs for the memory from Apple iMac (21.5-inch and 27-inch, Late 2012): Memory specifications
Rank isn't listed and isn't a concern. Get the memory that fits the other criterion and you will be fine. Use the links Ralph provided for good reliable sources.
