Q: disable isight from the high speed USB bus or move isight to slow USB bus

Help!  I need to disable the built in isght camera in my MacBook 17 inch 2.33 GHz Intel Core 2 duo from the high speed USB bus or move it to the slower speed bus.

This is because the USB DAC I am using (Ayre QB-9) must be the only peripheral on the high speed bus.  Now I have the iSight automatically sharing the high speed bus and as Ayre states it will cause problems ( pops, clicks, etc).

I have tried some scripts designed to disbale the isght or enable the isight and the computer still has the built in iSight connected to the hogh speed USB bus.  The computer I have unfortunately only has one high speed bus.

Any thoughts?  I do not need the isight as this computer is now a dedicated music server.

Thanks!!

While it is possible to disable iSight function by deleting your Mac's QuickTimeUSBVDCDIgitizer.component file from your /System/Library/QuickTime folder, I don't think that doing so could disconnect iSight from its bus.

Contact your Apple-Authorized Service Provider and discuss your needs.  If anyone can safely disconnect your iSight from its present bus without damaging your Mac, it will be an AASP.

If your AASP cannot do what you need with your current Mac, my only remaining suggestion is that you consider trading your MBP17 for a different machine that has no inbuilt camera.  A Mac mini may meet your needs.
