Running a G5 Mac Pro 2x2.8GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon. 10gb RAM with 4 internal hard drives. OS 10.5.8

The finder will not find all the files when I do a find. I am having to use Easyfind app to search my internal hard drives.

Despite what I try with Spotlight I cannot get the finder to operate successfully.

Can anyone please give me any pointers in this one . . . ?

Many thanks in anticpation.

No you are mistaken. No PPC G5 Mac runs on an Intel chip.

Please confirm what Mac you have, and that you are running OS 10.5.8 Leopard, so we can get your question moved to the correct forum.

Spotlight will index what you specify in Spotlight Preferences. If the category is not shown, it is not available to be indexed. There is nothing wrong with using EasyFind for those.

If you have reason to believe the Spotlight index is incomplete or corrupt force it to rebuild its database according to the instructions here.

I've found many people often call the Mac Pro a "G5" because it's (still) the same design.

As for the question, you can try opening the Spotlight system preferences and adding your hard drive(s) to the Privacy list, followed by immediately removing them. This will force the system to rebuild the Spotlight index and hopefully make finding files work better.
