    Is it rendered?

Do the sequence settings differ on the second sequence?  Different codec, frame rate?

yes, but I think i may have figured it out...in the sequences prefs,  the field of dominence on one timeline was set to none and the other odd, once we switched both to none, it worked fine....

Thank you so much for your quick response....I am working with my boss on a documentry....and he is getting stressed because it is close to his projected finish date.....
