Every time I buy, download, install, or try to update anything from the MAS, this happens. Which is basically nothing.
I bought Mountain Lion yesterday, the MAS has been sitting like this for just on 24 hours with no change. The download hasn't progressed, or given any kind of hint that it has started.
Please help. I'm afraid I have just wasted $25 on poor service.

Just a few questions.
What model Mac do you have?
Have you checked to see if that particular Mac model can take Mountain Lion? (Intel core 2 duo etc). Depending on the model, you may have Lion but it won't necessarily accept ML.
Do you have sufficient memory. (It's quite a big download)?
Have you adequate download provision.

It's my understanding that the MAS won't sell or let you download Mt Lion on a Mac that can't run it.
Do you have any anti-viral software or firewalls that could interfere? Speak to your ISP about the issue. The MAS works pretty much flawlessly for millions of folks every day, so it is unlikely that the issue is the MAS. It is more likely interference from your ISP or somethingcon your kit.
Try creating a test user account on your Mac and see if the issue follows you to that account.
The problem isn't just associated with Mountain Lion, I have the same problem when trying to download any application (see first post screen capture).
Surely I can run Mountain Lion. I bought this iMac only 7 months ago fully specd; 2TB HDD, 2G Video Memory, 8G Ram, and the i7 3.4Ghz processor.
It allowed me to purchase Mountain Lion, the funds have been withdrawn from my account and I received a receipt of purchase shortly afterward.
Reread what I wrote, I wasn't saying that the issue was ML. If your Mac can't run ML, the MAS wouldn't sell it to you.
MAS did sell it to me.
Also, shouldn't a download bar appear when MAS is downloading something? Like the referenced picture. No bar appears when I click download within MAS. See bottom picture.
That's all that happens when I click download, install, or update. No download bar comes up.
Okay, so I found and downloaded the MAS application linked from a forum, and it works!! Everything is working flawlessly now. My next question is; how do I replace my old corrupt version of MAS with the one I downloaded? When I try to, it comes up with an error message saying it can't be modified because i'ts needed by the OS.
I figured it out. I just used Clean My Mac to delete the App store and associated files. Then put the working version of MAS into the Applications folder.
