May 15, 2013 6:40 PM in response to MikeWhit999by MikeWhit999,Thanks Skydiver, according to the specs it does suport SDXC.
"Here are the supported SD cards and image-transfer protocols:
- Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP)
- Mass Storage Device protocol
- SDSC
- SDHC
- miniSD
- microSD
- MMC
- SDXC (supported only when not formatted as ExFAT)"
Any other suggestions?

May 15, 2013 6:54 PM in response to MikeWhit999by Skydiver119,I'm going to presume you've formatted it not as exfat. Do you have files on there? Did they come from a camera or did you put them on there? If you manually put them on there then you may need to tweak the naming structure. The iPad will only see files that are in a folder named DCIM, and those files have to have a name of exactly 8 characters.

May 15, 2013 6:58 PM in response to MikeWhit999by MikeWhit999,What a complete pain in the backside this devices is. Come on Apple catch up to the real world! 64, 128, 256 gb SDXC cards are the new 1,2 & 4gb cards to not support them is an absolute joke. I have more than a dozen 64gb cards for stills & video & hoped the iPad would be a useful tool for previewing material on the road. Seems not - sort of relegates the iPad back to toy status rather than tool. What a complete waste of my time and money.
Thanks for nothing.

May 15, 2013 7:06 PM in response to MikeWhit999by Skydiver119,I have win 8 so the 'how' might be a bit different. but I insert it into a computer, right click and choose 'format'. You have options of the kinds of file storage to use, exfat, fat32 etc.
choose anything but exfat (may want to check with your camera manual to see if it has any limitations to how it writes the files)
format - which will wipe the card clean
As a side note....Apple isn't here. Not beyond a few folks responding to non-answered questions (and even they just link to articles). You're just venting your frustrations to fellow users that are just trying to help You want to let apple know how you feel, there's nifty 'contact us' link on the lower right corner of this page.

May 15, 2013 7:18 PM in response to Skydiver119by MikeWhit999,Thanks Skydiver, worked a treat but obviously halved the capacities of my cards! Will reformat back to exFat on return from this next trip. Thanks again for your assistance. Regards
