Verizon Download Calls to Spreadsheet

My wireless carrier is Verizon. To download calls, I access the MyVerizon website, then navigate to the link "Download to Spreadsheet". I click on this link. The file that downloads is a .action file. It should be an Excel file. I have Excel for Mac loaded on my iMac.

Has any other Verizon wireless user with a Mac experienced this issue? If yes, have you found a solution that results in the file being downloaded as an Excel file? If yes, what is the solution?

Many thanks in advance.

iMac, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.3)

Try changing the .action extension to .xlsx or .xls and see if Excel will open the renamed file.

I haven't encountered any .action files myself but I have often run into online apps that produce files with odd extensions that when renamed appropriately work just fine.
