May 16, 2013 8:56 AM in response to squirt68by turingtest2,There are apps on the iPhone that are not in your local library, or are newer on the device. You should transfer these so that if it becomes necessary to restore the iPhone you have the correct apps to restore. Note that during restore data that belongs to each app can only be restored if the app is on the device.
Normally you will want to sync and backup your device in advance of an update, alternatively use File > Device > Transfer Purchases.

Why don't they take the extra line of code, on the pop-up, to say: 'Hey if you need to transfer purchases... just do this -> File > Device > Transfer Purchases.' ??? I don't get why Apple makes some of these things a mystery? ...I don't care to become an expert at OSs, otherwise I'd probably use another platform.
