To update your Apple ID for iCloud on your iPad, please see the instructions here:

In particular, follow step 3:
Ensure that you are actively logged in to iCloud with your Apple ID on your iOS device, Mac, or PC:
- iOS 5 or later:
- Tap Settings > iCloud.
- Review the iCloud settings to ensure the account is set up properly.
