Can I use a Windows 7 Operating Software Disc that was distributed with another PC purchase such as with an HP to install Windows 7 on my Mac Book Pro (2012) with Boot Camp?

Can I use a Windows 7 Operating Software DIsc that was distributed with the purchase of another PC such as an HP Desktop to install Windows 7 on my Mac Book Pro (2011-12) with Boot Camp?

You can't use the disc that came with another computer. That's because it's designed to be used only with the PC that it came with, and it may include a special version for that PC that may not work in the MacBook Pro.


If you want to install Windows 7, you have to buy a full version or a System Builder version from Amazon or eBay, and use it to install Windows 7 on the Mac. If you need help to install it, read > http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/boot_camp_install-setup_10.8.pdf
