Thunderbird mailbox does not exist warning/cannot send mail

I've already posted this question at the Mozilla forums and basically just gotten that it's a server side problem, but I can access my mail fine via web. I'm wondering if the Apple gurus here have any experience with this or I just have to not use Thunderbird.

I recently reinstalled Thunderbird and am now having issues with one of my email accounts. Every time I try to send an email, I get:

"The current operation on 'Sent' did not succeed. The mail server for account username@domain.com responded: [NONEXISTENT] Mailbox does not exist."

your mail provider: icloud.com (or me.com), ISP: Comcast, Macintosh basic firewall, the only antivirus I would have would be whatever came with the laptop, Mac OS Snow Leopard, Thunderbird version: 17.0.5

I tried to use the same settings for Thunderbird (stmp.me.com) and get this:User uploaded file

The normal settings for Thunderbird appear to be stmp (or imap).mail.me.com, but I can't get it to work with those settings. The normal settings for Mail are stmp (or imap).me.com

Using the settings on there just isn't working. I did set up the account in Mail and tried using the same settings. I must be putting them in wrong, because it's refusing to work. The connection times out (testing by sending an email to myself). I don't know if it matters that I'm not using Lion or Mountain Lion. Everything else is as updated as it can be.

Those settings work in any Imap client on any version of OSX from 10.5 onwards (even older in fact, but not quite as easily)

You are putting the settings in wrong, Apple knows the correct settings and that is what I gave you.

So take a screenshot of the settings as entered in Mail, let me see. I want all settings, Imap, Smtp, ports and security included. (If any personal info is shown edit it out)

Using the exact same settings as Mail, Thunderbird had some very big issues with me.

(The server on Mail is smtp.me.com, Thunderbird doesn't appear to like that.)

I also occasionally get this message from Mail:

User uploaded file

I have to click "Connect" for it to let me send mail sometimes. I'm wondering if this isn't an issue between iCloud and the fact that Mail 4.6 still refers to it as MobileMe. (I can't get a newer version, either, since I don't have Lion.)

Yup. Tried that, too. smtp.mail.me.com (which, I would like to point out, is not the same setting as it is in Mail, which is smtp.me.com. I checked... twice.) I can't use the same settings between the two. They simply don't translate for some reason. I tried using both smtp settings and both port 993 and port 587 and this is what I got for either. I've tried using the settings from Mail in Thunderbird, tried using the settings you linked to, and tried all of the advice you've given me. I appreciate the help, I really do, but I think I may have to forgo Thunderbird. It just does not seem to want to coorperate.

Please understand that there is 1 server address for iCloud, (you can enter the Mobile Me server all you like but it is not correct) It does not matter which client you use.

Did you setup Mail with smtp.mail.me.com, and if so what error messages did you get (assuming that you did not get mail)

The following link is Apples info sheet for the iCloud servers, these are the only correct settings, use them without altering them.

One question: are you trying to have Mail set this up automatically or are you actually entering the settings yourself.

Mail set up with mail.me.com (smtp.me.com:username) and the only issue I have is the occasional Security Certificate notice. When I try to set up an account, it brings up the window to automatically create an account.

I enter in the information and press "Create" and it just creates it without any option for me to put in my own things. I have tried both smtp.me.com and smtp.mail.me.com and I am able to get mail through Mail with either. Don't know if it matters, but my mail account comes up as MobileMe on the Mail sidebar.

And the Edit Email Aliases just brings me to the Apple homepage. Guessing that's just because I don't have Lion, but incase it helps.

Oh, and the link you gave me is refusing to load at the moment for me.
