How do I restore an ipod click wheel? (4th generation 20GB)

It hasn't worked for months = no power. Tried it again and a folder appeared with an exclamation mark and the apple support web address. Could not update the ipod and eventually when I plugged it into my PC it said the device needed to formatted. I did this but it is not recognised in itunes. How do I restore the factory settings? Can anyone help?

Hey celebre777,

I'd check out this article, it sounds like you might have experienced a similar situation:

iPod displays a sad iPod icon

If that matches your situation, within that document there are steps to resolve the issue.

If that isn't the specific issue you're encountering, the following document can help you if your iPod does not appear in iTunes:

iPod not recognized in 'My Computer' and in iTunes for Windows

Hope that helps,

David
