May 16, 2013 10:16 PM in response to marciefromgaby Topher Kessler,Try using Disk Utility to restore the DVD to a USB drive, and then boot to the USB drive by holding the Option key at startup. To restore the DVD, select the DVD in Disk Utility and then choose the Restore tab. Then drag the DVD to the "Source" field, and then drag your USB drive to the "Destination" field, and then click the Restore button that should become active.

May 17, 2013 7:22 AM in response to marciefromgaby William Lloyd,How old is the Mac? Did Snow Leopard come with it? If the Mac is newer than when Snow Leopard came out (2009?) you cannot install a retail copy of Snow Leopard on it, as Snow Leopard is too old.
