iPod Touch 4G Went Through Washing Machine

Does it look like it is between the outer glass and the LCD screen? Or does it look like a stain on the outer surface of the outer glass?

On the 4G the outer glass is permanently attached to the LCD screen so you can't really take it apart and clean that area.

Use/heat may make it go away.

No, using a hair dryer would make it worse, it will driver water farther in. Do what Varjak Paw suggested, turn it off, DO NOT connect it to power and put it in the bowl of raw rice for 3 - 4 days then check it again.

And rubbing alchol is mostly water.

Sorry, wrong thread. Yes, a couple more days might help but make sure you place it in a cool, dry place.

Alcohol absorbs water and is frequently used to dry items. However, a lot of alcohol in the iPod may end up damaging things

Just was confused between this one and the other one where the OP was told to submerge it in rubbing alcohol. Rubbing alcohol is mostly water so it will just make things worse. My confusion and my bad.

Not true. The typically rubbing alcohol is 70% alcohol and you can also go rubing alcohol that is 90% alcohol.

That is still too much water too "soak" it in to dry it.

The 90% would dry it fine but risk damaging the iPod. Also since the outer glass and LCD screen a re bonded as one unit it would be hard for the alcohol to get in and then then be able to evaporate. It would seem that the bonding between the outer glass and LCD screen has an unbonded are that let the water in. The washing machine action is great at getting the water in through that unbond area. But it would tke a lot of time for the it to evaporate through the unbond area.

Agitation can be a terrible thing.

Air drying it would be faster than 90% alcohol, but you would need to be sure you didn't use something with other additives also, including perfumes. I've only used the alcohol method with an opened iPhone and for cleaning purposes (don't ask).
