Apple Event: May 7th at 7 am PT
After selecting Time Machine to use a Time Capsule disk as it's backup location I get "An unexpected error occurred (error code -6584)" when re-opening Time Machine app and the app does not launch.
Two questions:
1) How can I get Time Machine to open?
2) How can I get Time Machine to work with my Time Capsule disk without throwing the above error?
Try holding the Option key and clicking the Time Machine menu and then choose the option to "Verify Backups" in the menu. If this menu is missing, then go to the Time Machine system preferences and check the box to show the menu in the menu bar.
I am unable to open Time Machine.
It gives the error and quits.
Go to the System Preferences and click Time Machine in there. Then ensure the checkbox that says "Show Time Machine in menu bar" is enabled. Next, go to the system menu bar at the top of your screen and locate the one that looks like a small clock with an arrow around it in the reverse direction. Hold the Option key and click this icon, and you will see an option to "Verify Backups." Choose this option, and when finished see if the same error occurs when you launch Time Machine.
