how to recover photos from iphone4

I inadvertently turned on my new iphone 5 before syncing my old iphone4 to my computer to download all the photos from it.

Now I have the itunes symbol with the USB plug stuck on the screen.

How can I access the photos and load onto my computer without doing a complete RESTORE which I assume will remove all data from the phone.

Any insight to this is greatly appreciated.
