I am super new in this and I am already going nuts.
I am running Xcode 3.2.6 in Max 10.6.8. I am following the instructions of the turorial to get to know Xcode.
When I double click on MainMenu.xib it opens an Excel document. I don't know what to do.
Can anyone help?

Verify extension name of the MainMenu.xib file, if it xls rather than xib you 'll know the culprit.
If it's truely .xib as file extension, select the file and get the info window for it : ⌘I (commande-i) or from the contextual menu with control-key + click on the file select "Get Info".
Once there look at the "Open with" and Excel App in a pop-menu. Use the pop-menu to change it to "Xcode" (or Interface Builder depending on your Xcode version). Then if there is a button "Change All" click on it for all others xib files to be opened by Xcode.
