Q: my laptop is stolen, how can I find the serial number for it?

it would be on the original box if you still have it and the receipt if you bought it from Apple as opposed to a reseller.

Even if you purchased from a reseller, you would get a receipt!  Matter of fact, you would get two.

well yes, of course you would get a reciept, but I'm not too sure the serial # would be on it.

If the comp is shipped from a reseller, the serial # would be on the packaging paperwork inside the shipping box (which is actually the receipt).
