Can I replace ripped digitizer ribbon cable?

I'm fixing my friends iPad 2 and when I was putting everything back together, I accidentally made a tiny tear in the ribbon cable for the digitizer. Of course, now there is no functionality with the new digitizer. Does anyone know if I can easily replace this ribbon cable or do something other than buy a whole new digitizer?
