Cannot eject SD/CF card & crash after import

It's been a while but I couldn't stand it anymore and wanted to find a solution. Recently, I could never eject a card after import, and worse, it sometimes crash as I tried to eject (with the delete box checked). It doesn't matter whether it's jpeg or raw, it would still happen. Below are the logs, coud somebody let me know how to fix this?

Thanks very much.

Roadie,

What is your Aperture 3 version? Is it also Aperture 3.4.4? We have seen quite a few similar crashes - they usually happen, when ejecting the card and opting to delete the imported photos from the card. Deleting from the card is the moment when Aperture crashes.

As a work-around - uncheck the "delete" box and delete in the camera. That seems to fix it in all cases and it is best practice anyway. It is better for the filesystem on the card, if the camera deletes the files. And this way you can check the imported images if they were imported correctly and can make a backup of your Aperture library, before you delete them.

Unfortunately, so far we have seen no common pattern for the situation that are causing these crashes. To confirm this is an Aperture bug, some tests would be useful:

  • Does it only happen when importing into your current Aperture library? Try to import into a new, empty Aperture library.
  • Does it only happen, if you are using Aperture to import? You could try to import into iPhoto or ImageCapture and compare the results?
  • Does it only happen, when you are working from your user account? Check, if it is making a difference, if you are signed in as a different user. This will tell you, if it is a system wide trouble or caused by some settings in your user account.

Regards

Léonie
