Playlists on my iphone 5 not showing up on itunes

I have an iPhone 5, and only some of my playlists are showing up on iTunes. Only the playlists that I made on iTunes are showing up, not the ones I made on the phone. Why is this and how to I get all of my playlists to show up? NOTE: I am NOT using iTunes Match.
