iPhone 4S Wifi weak reception of signal

I bought a used (almost mint condition) iPhone 4S a few months ago. I almost have to be within eye sight of the transmitting router to get

a strong signal of bars. Comparing my wife's iPhone she receives a strong signal throughout the the house. I have tried tightening the screw

for the wifi antenna. Instructions found on you tube. Still...poor wifi signal reception. Any suggestions or I am thinking of sending it to Apple for

repair.

When I first got my iPhone 4S, it wouldn't connect to my house's wifi network at all, so before doing anything on it, I reset it and it worked great afterward. My wifi is slow, but that's not my phone's fault, but at least it can get connected and stay connected. I would reccomend some kind of reset if you haven't tried something like this already. I also don't know how willing Apple store people will be to help you though if they find out you took the phone apart (not very fond of it). I wish you luck.

Thank you for choosing Apple. 😉

The soft reset will not erase anything. You do this by holding down the home and lock buttons for 10 seconds. You should try this first. If still nothing, the hard reset will wipe out your phone. You can make a backup of your phone's data first so you can put that data back on after the reset. Chances are the glitch will not get saved onto the backup. If you still have problems after that method, you may have to do a reset againa nd set your iphone up as new. Of course this means you should send any pictures of files of value to another device so they are not lost. Even though they will never be lost because they will always be present in the backup you make.
