How can I update an Ipod 1.1.5 so that I can download apps and use itunes?

I have an Ipod touch version 1.1.5, that I recieved in around 2005, I think. I havent used it for a while and thougth that I had lost it for a while. While going through some things in my office at work, I found it. I would like to use it, but I cant connect to utube or use any apps. Even connecting to the itunes store, i cant. How do I update this to a version I can use?

Your 1G iPod can only go to 3.1.3. Yo need at least iOS 2 for apps. To update

Thanks for responding. Sorry about the year of the IPod. I got it as a gift and I thought it was before my daughter was born with was the end of Dec in 2007. I may have got it for Christmas or my birthday. It was one of the first ones to come out. I got it to upgrade and works better now or at least as well as one of its age. Thank you.
