how to enter accent ring u

I've tried various ways I found on the web but couldn't get the letter "u" with a ring (˚) on top. I have tried Option+"u" but that just gives me two dots on top. I've also tried Option+K,"u" but that gives me the ring with the letter "u" to the right of it.

Can someone please help? Thanks.

Top menu > Keyboard Layout > Show Character Viewer >Latin and scroll down to the alternate 'u' characters and double click it to paste.
