Just noticed this issue myself as I was upgrading to a daskeyboard.
IF you have the keyboard set to "U.S. Extended" with a daskeyboard, it bombs Appleworks in OSX.4.11 anytime a character key is pressed in any text document, except in spreadsheets (go figure that one). At least that is my experience for the last couple of hours. IF I set it back to just "U.S.", Appleworks appears to work just fine.
STILL think that Appleworks only has one contender for best overall. Before the U.S.ofA. gummint dropped WordPerfect as the required electronic letter document software I still preferred it, now I use notepad or simpletext for anything "work related" where they will not provide me with a Power PC Macintosh.
