Q: iPod 2nd generation unable to use any apps, they all need ios5, is it useless? Wasted money?

Some apps require frameworks that are only available in iOS 5, which is unfortunately not available for second generation or 8GB third generation iPod touch due to hardware limitations.

There was another suggestion that you could sort apps by date in iTunes and pick very old ones, assuming they'd work. It was in a discussion thread in these forums.
