I have an older iphone 4s in hand with iOS 5 on it.  I know that the current iOS is 6.1.4.  Still, on my laptop is an older 6.1.2 iOS in iTunes since my last download.  Is it possible for me to choose to upgrade to the older iOS, instead forcing to download the latest software?  It is true that Apple always forced us to be on the latest iOS software?

Thank you in advance for any intelligent inputs and thoughts.

    1. No. iTunes won't allow the installation of an iOS version other than the latest compatible one.

    2. No. People have the choice of not updating.

    No, it is not.

The current version of iOS is 6.1.3 for the iPhone 3GS, 4, and 4S.

The current version of iOS for the iPhone 5 is 6.1.4.

Apple only allows updating to the current iOS version.
