Why cant I see my music on my ipod?

I just reinstalled itunes and now for some reason I cant see any music on my ipod even though it shows that i've got 26gb used space nothing appears in the library whether in itunes or using my ipod on its own. I've no idea whats happened and where its gone!

I cleared out my library then re-populated it so there is music in itunes but when I connect my ipod and click onto that in itunes nothing appears although on the wee bar on the bottom it says 26.4gb used and 1.6 space free.....i'm baffled as to whats happened, I tried to add more music (10 tracks) to my ipod and it adds no problem and decreases the amount of space free but only says that the total amount of songs are those that i've just added.

Whats happened then is iTUnes basicly "Copied" its empty library file onto the iPod. When you connect the iPod to iTUnes it copys music over AND the library/database iTUnes has. Id say the music is there, but the iPOd Library hhas no "Link" or "Direction" to ponit to these files so it shows nothing.

The only option you have now is using yamipod http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/home/ and seeing if it can recover these songs for you off the ipod. Read the "docs" on yamipods home page here to learn how to use it and what feature you need to use to recover off the iPod (Like Find lost music and repair iPOd) http://www.yamipod.com/main/modules/docs/

If it can not recover songs off the iPod, and you have no backups made, your going to be VERY limited in your options. you will have to "Re" import all your CDs. All songs you bought online you will have to email apple and see if they will offer a "Re" download of them. Keep in mind there under NO obligation to do so, but most have had success in emailing them and getting an offer to redownload songs they bought and have not be modified on the store. here a link to email the music store if you need to as a last resort http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/download/

To backup music once you recover everything you can go here and follow steps http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/musicstore/backup/

I have all my music still on my pc so it's not a problem copying it back to my ipod, what i'm confused about is why my ipod only shows that it has a couple of songs on it but when I look on the 'about' bit on my ipod it shows that most of the space has been used but there's nothing in the library bar the 10 songs I copied over this morning to test and when I hook it up to itunes again it also shows that i've used most of the space but only shows the songs I copied over this morning. How can I get it to show accurately the amount of songs that are on it and the true amount of space left on it?

Why cant I see my music on my ipod?
